They say it is a matching numbers example that represents a rare and exciting opportunity for any enthusiast of the marque. This is a 1969 Maserati Indy 4.2, one of the cars that made the Maserati name famous. Gullwing Motor Cars in New York listed a rare project car for restoration this week. Now that is total emersion in your hobby. This is an opportunity for a collector of a different type to not only show and enjoy owning an historically significant classic car, but to actually participate in sanctioned nostalgia race events. Unfortunately, he says he does not have the time or resources to show and campaign this historic race car as it deserves. The current owner says it starts easily and is extremely durable and reliable. In 1910 Studebaker began absorbing E-M-F and this was one of the final years E-M-F produced the Model 30 under its name. He has raced it at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in SVRC competition (see photos above.) It was even entered in the Gordon Bennet Rally in England. Since the restoration the owner has won awards at concours shows. This is one very rare two-seater race car. It was restored in 2018 and comes fully documented. He says this race car bears the VIN number of one of the three factory built racers for the Tiedeman Cup race. It is being offered for sale by its private party owner out of Cincinnati, Ohio. The one you see displayed here was raced as No. The E-M-F 30 racers finished first, second and third that year, and broke a world record. And E-M-F surely got its money’s worth out of that race. ![]() ![]() This is one of the cars which E-M-F built at the factory to compete in the Tiedeman Cup race in 1911. It was a surprise to find a 1911 E-M-F 30 Two Seat Racer in our Cars-On-Line Race Car section this week. That was the year they built three purpose built race cars to compete in the Tiedeman Cup competition in Savannah, George. In the period between 19, a small automotive manufacturer called E-M-F moved into second place behind only Ford to make 26,827 vehicles in 1911. It was a time when small automakers could emerge and make it big. ![]()
